Quiz Gamification with Blooket

Are you bored giving the same formative test, either in pre-test or post-test, by using only one platform? Some educational tools mostly used by teachers to conduct such activity, such as: Quizizz or Kahoot!, have been too common and in fact, become less attractive anymore.

For this reason, I would like to introduce you to Blooket, which in my point of view, has simple characteristic like Quizizz and Kahoot!, yet more interactive through its gamification. My students found this refreshing. Furthermore, they tend to ask for more.

For your information, I believe, just like the two platforms mentioned, Blooket can be applied to any simple subject.

Let me tell you how to have fun with Blooket:

For teachers, what you need to do is to sign up with your google account. It’s super simple. For students, there is no need for them to sign up to create an account. Only write down their name on the blank given and pick a character icon. It’s super fun. In another occasion, you need only to sign in with your google account.
If you want to create your own quiz, get the CREATE. To have your own quiz, there are three ways you can do: (a) make manually straightly in the site, (b) upload from your Quizlet account, or (c) export from the excel template – whose template needed to download first. However, there are quite a few quizzes made by other fellow teachers that you can use as well, by getting into DISCOVER – the compass logo on the dashboard. You can search any related subject to your interest. Make sure you check all of the questions and answers first before sending it to your students.

Frankly, all the games have similar means to gather point, except for the Racing, since it’s only the fastest in answering the questions wins. The difference is on how the game played. Simple reminder: If you want to take score from the activity, let your students know that the most important of all to answer correctly. The game played is only an additional bonus to make it more interesting. If possible, you can reward those who are in the highest throne. You know what I mean, right?

My students’ favorite mode is the Crypto Hack where they can take points from their peers by either stealing points or hacking their password. The password itself can be chosen, as offered by the game, then the other players guess which password used by other participants.

To adapt, your students may find it a bit confusing how to play the game. The trick is by having one simulation with any available quiz on the site. Then, after they understand, get into the real one, with the same game-mode.

Please, explore each of the game-mode to, eventually, adjust your need regarding the activity conducted at your class. It won't hurt you.
